This new book celebrates hip-hop’s greatest producers

From mainstream pioneers to underground icons – featuring biographies, liner notes, artwork, and more.

A new book celebrating hip-hop producers, titled From Boom Bap to Trap: Hip-Hop’s Greatest Producers, is being published by Hamilcar Publications in 2022.

Written and illustrated by journalist Riley Wallace, From Boom Bap to Trap focuses on producers including MF DOOM, DJ Premier, and RZA, alongside Easy Mo Bee and Paul C.

In doing so, the 312-page book brings together biographies, list of key tracks, liner notes and artwork.

As Wallace writes, “until now, hip-hop heads have been forced to navigate a sea of wiki entries, incomplete bios and confusing credits (or none at all), which has caused some mind-melting tracks to be underappreciated or completely undiscovered. No more.”

From Boom Bap to Trap: Hip-Hop’s Greatest Producers is currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter.

“The greatest husband, father, teacher, student, business partner, lover and friend I could ever ask for. Thank you for all the things you have shown, taught and given to me, our children and our family. Thank you for teaching me how to forgive beings and give another chance, not to be so quick to judge and write off. Thank you for showing how not to be afraid to love and be the best person I could ever be. My world will never be the same without you. Words will never express what you and Malachi mean to me, I love both and adore you always. May THE ALL continue to bless you, our family and the planet.

All my love,

Jasmine”
